Twins Vs Astros Mlb Playoffs Betting Picks

Updated October 10, 2023By Dean Etheridge

The 2023 postseason hasn’t disappointed. The action has lived up to expectations, and the series involving the Minnesota Twins and the Houston Astros has been no different. The Astros are the defending World Series winners. But they are in danger of losing in the ALDS. Here, we look ahead to the third match of the series and tell you what the best bets to make are in our latest MLB betting picks.

Twins Vs Astros Mlb Playoffs Betting Picks

What; 2023 MLB Playoffs ALDS

Who; Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros (1-1)

Where; Target Field, Minneapolis, Minnesota

When; Tuesday, October 10th, 2023

Time; 4.07 p.m. ET

After sharing the honors at Minute Maid Park, the series heads to Minnesota for matches three and four.

Two home wins for the Twins would see them into the American League Championship Series at the expense of the defending champions.

And according to the best MLB Postseason betting sites, the Twins have a chance. They are not the favorite to win. But the betting is incredibly tight. The Astros are -115 to win the series, with the Twins at -105.

Betting to win the American League Pennant and World Series

Despite their impressive start to the series against the Astros, the Twins are still outsiders in betting to win the American League Pennant.

The Texas Rangers are currently leading the way. Texas have raced into a 2-0 series lead against the Orioles. As a result, they are favorites to win the American League Championship Series at +120. The Astros are second favorites at +225, with the Twins at +290 and the Orioles at +1400.

As well as being favorites to win the ALDS, the Rangers are also the +325 favorites to win the 2023 World Series. This represents a huge turnaround in the form and fortunes of the Rangers, who just a few weeks ago weren’t even certain if they would make it to the postseason.

Twins vs. Astros Betting

The betting to win match three of the series is also tight, in keeping with the series as a whole. On the money line, the Twins lead the way with the best MLB betting sites. Minnesota is -128 to win and take a lead in the series. Houston is +118 for a victory that would regain the home-field advantage and ensure at the very worst, a deciding match back at Minute Maid Park.

On the handicap line, the Astros are -184 with the 1.5-point start. Minnesota is +164 to win and cover the spread.

Finally, the total points spread is bang on 8. Both over and under is -110 with BetOnline. So far in the series, we have seen ten runs in match one and eight in match two.

The current state of play

The series is level pegging at one win each heading into match three. The first match went to plan, with the Astros winning it 6-4. Houston raced into a 5-0 lead after six innings before a crazy seventh inning saw the match go 6-4, which was how it eventually ended.

The Twins must have sensed they had landed a blow in the seventh innings of the opening match because in game two they picked up where they had left off, racing into a 3-0 lead after two innings. Carlos Correa was the star of the show. He was instrumental in the 6-2 victory.

The stunning turnaround in this series will have given Twins fans optimism that they can pull off a shock win and take their place in the American League Championship Series.

Our Picks

Despite all the optimism for Twins fans, we’ve been here before with the Houston Astros. They find themselves on the ropes, but time and time again, they find a way to bounce back.

The Twins look on top. But the Astros know how to suffocate opponents and grab the initiative back. But how often can Dusty Baker’s team keep going to the well before it runs out of water is the question?

With the odds the way they are, if we are going to back the Astros to win, we can do so on the money line. They are odds against which is rare. So this is also a chance that maybe can’t be missed. The heart says back the Twins, but the common sense bet is to stick with the Astros. We are backing Houston to win on the money line.

We also like the look of over on the total points spread. Nerves could kick in and cause a tense and edgy game. But totals of 10 and 8 in the previous two matches make a bet on over 8 runs worth the risk.
